Aims:
  • To offer support and encouragement to individuals fighting an eating disorder and to their loved ones.
  • To combat feelings of isolation and shame.
  • To provide practical information on the sources of support available to those fighting an eating disorder.
  • To provide free and accessible information on eating disorders and the ways in which they affect individuals.
  • To raise awareness, reduce stigmatism and increase understanding of eating disorders amongst the public, and specifically within the university community.
  • To offer friendship, a network of support and a positive sense of belonging that will help individuals to build their confidence and self-esteem during and following recovery.
Objectives:
  • To listen to the concerns, fears and hopes of individuals without judgement.
  • To share and discuss experiences and problems, via e-mail or in one-to-one meeting, in a manner that encourages and supports an individual’s recovery.
  • To review and update information provided on www.bite-back.org.uk and in printed leaflets and posters in line with current information and understanding.
  • To use local radio, newspaper and magazines to raise awareness and spread information.
  • To offer a hand of friendship that extends beyond the fight against an eating disorder.
